The City of Bakersfield welcomed over 500 people to the Bakersfield Active Transportation Summit and Festival on Saturday, October 21.
Local organizations participated in donating active transportation-related prizes, and attendees were entered into a chance to win light-up scooters, skateboards, helmets, skate passes, and more to help promote safe, accessible active transportation in their local neighborhoods.
Following the festival, the Active Transportation Plan (ATP) project team educated community members on the ATP process and explained how one can be implemented in Bakersfield with public input considered in the final design. Attendees were able to design their ideal street through Streetmix.net, and were invited to share their input on the ATP Interactive Map Survey, which can be found on the Provide Input tab of this site.

The City of Bakersfield continues to seek public input by reaching out to neighborhoods, businesses, and civic association meetings and events. View the gallery below to see more photos from the summit and festival!
